A barcode is an optical representation of data that is generated machine-readable. 1D barcodes code the data by varying the width of parallel lines along with their spacings, while two-dimensional codes are dots, rectangles, hexagons, or other geometric patterns, etc. These codes are called DataMatrix codes. The barcode reader can read complete storage racks up to 384 barcoded vials. The scanner software transfers the coded sample IDs to databases. The cryostorage vials which are scanned by software are stored in the ULT freezer.
