Chromatography Systems
Chromatography is a technique of separating components in a complex mixture between two or more immiscible phases and analyzing the mixture. It is the method in which the analyte is mixed within the mobile phase that travels through the stationary phase. Generally, one phase is hydrophilic and the other is lipophilic. The components interact towards the phases depending on their polarity and thus retarded to a greater or smaller extent leading to the components' separation. The component from a sample elutes from the stationary phase at a specific time called retention time. As the components pass through the detector their signal is recorded and the result is plotted in the form of a chromatogram. Chromatography is widely used in various industrial processes such as to perform quality control tests on products, purify samples, and isolate chiral compounds, etc.
