Solid phase extraction is a process that is used to concentrate or purify specific components in a liquid sample before chromatographic analysis. In this technique, the compounds that are dissolved and suspended in the mixture are isolated and purified from other compounds based on their physicochemical properties. The method is employed by passing the sample solution through adsorbent and retaining the substance to be tested. Further, use a solvent of appropriate strength to wash out impurities and with the help of the solvent elute the sample which needs to be tested. The applications include purifying compounds of interest, concentrating analytes present at low levels & fractionating complex mixtures for analysis, etc.
