These types of fume hoods have a large filter unit mounted on top of the fan. The blower inside sucks in air from the room through the front opening and passes them through the filter and then releases the filtered air in the room again. The ductless fume hood has a filtration unit that consists of two phases i.e. pre-filtration layer that is made up of thick foam that traps the larger particles and the main filter is an activated carbon shield that absorbs most of the gases like ammonia, carbon monoxide, etc. The foam can last up to 6-8 months and the carbon filter for 2 years.
